Fact is: a woman filled a sexual harassment complaint against two members of the national men's football team several days ago. This complaint was originally filed with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) but has since been put into the hands of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) for resolution.

Fact is: at the time of this writing, action on that woman's complaint has not been completed and a resolution has not been reached since the accused parties are still abroad, competing in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup. Therefore, nobody can yet conclude whether the accused parties are guilty of anything and deserve to be sanctioned.

Fact is: members of the national team are one in saying that this issue be resolved in a respectful and professional manner.

Fact is: every Filipino is entitled to have an opinion about issues that are present in our society. Many Filipinos, particularly members of the media, actually earn a living by writing and/or voicing their commentaries through their respective news organisations.

Fact is: the Philippines, through her Constitution, has clear rules on who are considered to be members of the nation and citizenry. It is only up to the State to say whether one person who claims to be Filipino is truly Filipino.

Fact is: a couple of days ago, a member of the media usurped 1) the PFF's sole duty to resolve the woman's sexual harassment complaint against two football team members; and 2) the State's duty to determine whether the two accused are truly Filipino citizens and nationals.

Fact is: in the course of this usurpation of duties, that member of the media uttered statements that many Filipinos, one way or another, found hurtful. And many who were hurt reacted in various degrees of anger, accusing the media man of racism.

Fact is: last night, that media man issued a statement defending his stand regarding the sexual harassment complaint but issued no apology for uttering racist remarks.

Fact is: just now, the PFF have filed a complaint to the media man's employers about his and a colleague's remarks regarding the sexual harassment and nationality issues.

Fact is: if you're reading this and your only source of information is this media man's network or a certain hotdog vendor, then you don't know shit.
