DragonNet 2008 Multmedia Package The Dragon Network is a group of health policy researchers and implementors. Its members meet regularly to discuss policy implementation across Asia. This multimedia package is a documentation of the Dragon Network's 2008 meeting/symposium held in Tokyo, Japan. The package is split into several sections: `Sessions`, which contains study abstracts and slideshows; `Videos`, which contains a tribute to one of DragonNet's respected members who passed away, and an archive of footage taken during the symposium; `Photos`, which contains photo albums; `Members`, a member profile browser; and `Archives`, a collection of documentations from earlier DragonNet meetings. This multimedia package was built in Adobe Flash. The photos were processed using PHaTCH, videos were processed using FFMpeg, and vector graphics were created in Inkscape and post-processed in The GIMP. MS PowerPoint resources were converted to HTML using OpenOffice Impress; the HTML was reformatted to XML (with image resources) using a helper script written in Python. The final product can be viewed as a stand-alone Windows desktop application or through a web browser with the Flash Player plug-in. You might have noticed that this website's main navigation links uses the same icon set used as the package's menu (in the first picture). That icon set was created specifically for this project. I worked for about a month on this project, from January to February 2010.
Communicating Across Cultures This project can be thought of as v.1.1 of The Basics of Intercultural Communication project. It was recomposed for the talk by Dr. Pamala V. Morris and Ms. Inez Ponce de Leon, which was delivered at The 24th Annual Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences Career Fair and Training Conference held in Indianapolis, Indiana on 27th March 2009. The slides that appear in this project were created using The GIMP. Additionally, Guhit SGV Graph Maker was used to create minor slide elements.
The Basics of Intercultural Communication A Flash + XML application that I developed for Ms. Inez Ponce de Leon and Dr. Mark Tucker for the talk, "The Words of Many, The Language of One: The Basics of Intercultural Communication", presented at the AGR 201 undergraduate class, Communicating Across Culture, at Purdue University. This project is a variant of A World of Discovery, A Web of Knowledge rapid presentation composer application. This improved version, however, allows the creator to include rich media in Flash Video and MP3 formats. The slides that appear in this project were created using The GIMP, and media transcoding was done using FFmpeg.
Ateneo de Manila Law School Interactive Yearbook 2008 This yearbook is loosely themed around the television series Heroes. While lacking the previous yearbook's search-and-match features, this one has better audio-visual integration. The yearbook was also designed to be web-efficient, which makes it possible to use the yearbook as a Flash-based website. There are also two custom-made games in this Interactive Yearbook. In the (Memory Game++), the player has to match eighteen people's toga and creative pictures. In the second game, (Save the Law Students, Save the World), the player battles an evil mutant who is after the students' powers. Image processing for this project was done using Phatch: Photo Batch Processor, and media transcoding was done using FFmpeg.
